The article by NISL CEO Robert C. Hughes and NISL CFO Richard Moglia-Cannon explores how K–12 education can learn from successful approaches for recruitment of new leaders, pre-service and principal certification programs, and ongoing leadership development. NISL has carefully examined these approaches and adapted them for the Executive Development Program for School Leaders. The results, measured just three months after the training was completed, include:

  • Student test scores went up.
  • Time spent on instruction increased.
  • Principals took action to improve instruction.
  • Participants gave NISL high marks.
