Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Ron Tomalis announced that in the 101 school districts where principals completed the Pennsylvania Inspired Leadership (PIL) program, researchers found evidence of achievement at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Pennsylvania implemented the training using the NISL Executive Development Program for School Leaders.
Tomalis said that the study of the program confirms that when all factors—including funding—are examined, it’s the quality and structure of a school’s leadership that has the greatest impact on student achievement.
“Principals are key players in the success of schools and school districts,” Tomalis said. “Pennsylvania’s PIL program can serve as a model for other states.”
